  I recently ordered, and paid for by phone, a marquee from these guys, for the Mackay home and caravan show. The whole ground had been revamped, and I had no idea whether my allocated site would be roadway or grass. Had Holly's asked me, I would have said "Don't know, I'll find out for you". When they turned up with the marquee at the site number I supplied, it turned out to be bitumen, and they weren't set up for free standing marquees. After mulling it over for a while, it was clear that the man in charge, Peter, wasn't keen to proceed, and said that he would prefer (albeit reluctantly) to give me the opposition company's phone number because he knew they were better set up for this sort of thing - and that he would arrange for the "office" to reverse the $440 charge. I thought he was pretty decent about it, and I did as he suggested, getting the opposition's offering for a slightly higher price (and letting them know that he had referred me to them). Subsequently the "office", a lady called Lee, refused to refund the full amount, and when asked repeatedly how much she WAS prepared to give me, refused to state a figure, eventually hanging up on me (yes, I got a bit cross after 7 or 8 repetitions of the same question - how much?). I have now opened a dispute with the bank. The point was, if I thought for one minute that I wasn't going to get my money back, then I would have made their marquee work somehow, even if I had to borrow a drill from another exhibitor (many of whom come prepared like that!). The other point is, if you deal with this company (and yes, I suppose, any company), don't take their word for anything over the phone - get the contract in writing so there can be no argument later about what was agreed (eg they claim I told them the site was grass, an impossibility given the circumstances - I couldn't possibly have known). I am sure that under normal circumstances they would provide a great service - they just don't respond well when things go a bit pear-shaped - or at least as far as the lady in the "office" is concerned. That's my two bob's worth, and I'd welcome a response from them.
